Welcome to Simmons Counseling & Consulting Services, your space for intersectional therapeutic and consultative interventions.
S and Danielle have always dreamed of opening a community space for queer, trans, and Black people to learn, grow, and thrive. Simmons Counseling and Consulting Services was born from that dream. We were founded in February 2014 when God whispered “it’s time” to Danielle. She called S and spoke the practice into existence. Starting with the counseling part, she was dedicated to providing therapeutic services beyond the academy. Building with a couple clients a week, the practice quickly bloomed into a thriving space that centers queer, trans, and Black affirming therapy and education. With the addition of consultation to the practice, we are cultivating a holistic space.
*Note about COVID-19: In the early years, SCCS was based in an office building in downtown Chicago. Since COVID-19 sheltered us in place, we have moved the practice completely virtual, honoring the need for remote therapy and consultation.
